Sergeant First Class Robert “Bobby” L. Barrios, Green Beret, age 32 transitioned to his Fathers Home on Saturday May 25, 2019 at 1:27 a.m.<\/p>\n
Bobby is survived by his loving parents Robert, Sr. and Rachael Sothern Barrios. Brother, David Matthew Barrios and sister Nicole Marie Maronge. Nephew, Jacob Maronge. Nieces, Meghan and Morgan Maronge. Maternal grandfather, James Sothern, and a host of cousins, aunts and uncles.<\/p>\n
Bobby was preceded in death by his his brother-in-law, Chad Maronge, SMSgt. Paternal grandmother, Marguerite C. Barrios, Paternal grandfather, Louis H. Barrios. and Maternal grandmother, Geraldine G. Sothern<\/p>\n
He was a Green Beret in the U.S. Army for 12 years and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.<\/p>\n

“Bobby Barrios, Jr. was my former teammate and helluva Senior Communications Sergeant, when we both served on Operational Detachment- Alpha (ODA) 1211. He was the type of guy who\u2019s smile, confidence and swagger could light up any room he walked into. Bobby was incredibly smart, a fierce competitor, loyal friend, and a unwavering patriot who had the amazing ability to bring people together. And he even did so after his death on May 25th, 2019.<\/em><\/p>\n Bobby chose to take his own life. And though we don\u2019t know the exact details, we know that he had recently separated from the Army after 12 years as a Green Beret. He had enrolled in college and began to start a new life, but apparently still had demons that haunted him. Despite his charisma, positive attitude, and plenty of friends in his hometown of Houma, Bobby had challenges he was unable to share.<\/em><\/p>\n No one knew. No one would have guessed this outcome. Not his family, friends, or military brothers. We were all shocked when we heard of the horrible news, as we knew Bobby would be the last person on earth who would even consider such actions.
