Chicago Police Detective Eric Concialdi served his department for 16 years.<\/h6>\n

Chicago, IL \u2013 Chicago Police Department (CPD) Detective Eric Concialdi died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\n

A fellow officer discovered the 44-year-old, off-duty detective\u2019s body at his residence on West Monroe Street just before 1:30 p.m., the\u00a0Chicago Sun-Times<\/a>\u00a0reported.<\/p>\n

An autopsy took place on Monday, and the medical examiner ruled that Det. Concialdi died by suicide, according to\u00a0WLS<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with profound sadness that we share the news that a CPD detective took his own life yesterday after going through personal hardships,\u201d CPD spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi tweeted on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur deepest condolences & prayers go out to his family, friends & CPD officers & detectives,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Det. Concialdi served CPD for 16 years, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.<\/p>\n
