Army Sergeant Kimberly Diane Agar, of North Richland Hills, Texas, beloved daughter of Margy and Michael Agar.<\/p>\n
From SGT Agar’s mother, Margy:<\/p>\n
Army SGT Kimberly D. Agar seemed to sing before she could talk. She sang throughout her childhood, including a command performance with the TKO Kids Singing Troupe at the Clinton White House when she was 11. A 2004 graduate of Birdville High School in North Richland Hills, she served in Iraq as a heavy transport driver and was often called on to sing for special events in the war zone.<\/p>\n
She was injured by an improvised explosive device in Iraq during her first enlistment. She re-enlisted to see the world and was selected to be a vocalist with the Army\u2019s elite European Band and Chorus based in Germany.<\/p>\n
SGT Agar sang the national anthem across North Texas and \u201cGod Bless America\u201d at a Rangers game. She also sang her way to the semifinals of the Miss Teen Texas and Miss Texas pageants.<\/p>\n
SGT Agar joined the Army in 2006 and was part of the 2007 Bush administration troop surge in Iraq. She was injured when an enemy bomb exploded under the truck she was driving and blew out the vehicle\u2019s windows and safety hatch in a complex attack. She regained her composure and fired back. She was injured, and she suffered lingering effects of that injury.<\/p>\n
SGT Agar sang in the Army from boot camp on \u2014 for events such as command changes, services of fallen soldiers, greeting visiting dignitaries, Gen Martin Dempsey, (LTG. Mark Hertling was COC) performing for the Queen of England’s 85th Birthday Celebration, and her last performance she received a General’s coin for her vocal performance for the AFGHAN MINISTER, who stated that Kimberly’s performance made that night the best night he had had in 30 years.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen she went to Iraq, she was the go-to person to sing if anybody came over from the United States,\u201d her mother said.<\/p>\n
