Marine Corporal Joshua James Markel, born December 31, 1986, of Lincoln, Nebraska, beloved son of James and Patrice (Tuder) Markel.<\/p>\n

He was a 2005 graduate of Lincoln North Star High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps on August 8, 2005; he served his country overseas, deploying to Iraq for an eight month tour & Afghanistan for 9 months; a point man on patrols with Fox Company, 2nd Regiment, 7th Marines. Joshua received an Honorable Discharge in 2009.<\/p>\n

He later began his work at the Nebraska State Penitentiary as a Corporal. He was united in marriage to Ashley (Schulz) Markel on September 11, 2010.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was a good, loving man,\u201d said his mother, Patti, \u201cand he loved his family. He was always, always there for everybody.” He also enjoyed time hunting; and Husker football.<\/p>\n

Cpl Joshua James Markel lost his battle with PTS on October 6, 2012. He was 25 years old.<\/p>\n
