MINOT, N.D.-<\/strong>\u00a0North Dakota is moving closer to allowing residents to buy medical marijuana, but before that can happen, local governments need to decide where businesses can operate.<\/p>\n

Ward County is looking to update their ordinance to include a “special use” permit for medical marijuana in industrial and large commercial areas.<\/p>\n

The County Commissioners have to take 20 days to review the recommendation, but the update will specify zones where marijuana businesses and facilities can operate.<\/p>\n

\u201cEssentially, we’re just adding verbiage to the ordinances to clarify where medical marijuana facilities can be located,\u201d said Ward County Planning and Zoning Administrator Nancy Simpson.<\/p>\n
