Nicholas James Budney\u00a0of Rock Taven, Formerly of Cold Spring passed away \u00a0on\u00a0January 27, 2018\u00a0in\u00a0Newburgh\u00a0\u00a0He was 36.<\/p>\n
Born on\u00a0January 7, 1982\u00a0in\u00a0Mount Kisco,\u00a0New York\u00a0to Doug and Margaret Budney.<\/p>\n
Nicholas grew up in Cold Spring and graduated from Haldane in 2000. He went on to SUNY Plattsburgh and John Jay College of Criminal Justice.\u00a0\u00a0On\u00a0January 10, 2005\u00a0he graduated from the\u00a0New York City\u00a0Police\u00a0Academy\u00a0where he was a proud officer assigned to the 47th\u00a0Precinct in the\u00a0Bronx.\u00a0\u00a0He was a member of Special Operations at the 47, named Cop of the Year 4 times at the 47 and currently was assigned to ESU Truck 3 in the\u00a0Bronx.\u00a0\u00a0He was a member of the North Highland Fire Department and was fireman of the year.\u00a0\u00a0He enjoyed cooking, gardening and woodworking.\u00a0\u00a0He loved being Irish and was loud and proud to be an Irish American.<\/p>\n
On\u00a0April 13, 2013\u00a0he married the love of his life Shannon Sheehan at Our Lady of Loretto Church.<\/p>\n
Nicholas is survived by his wife\u00a0\u00a0Shannon at home, His Parents Doug and Margaret Budney, Sister Heather\u00a0Stoja and\u00a0\u00a0her husband Matthew, His brother Christopher Budney, His Godson Lino\u00a0Stoja, his niece Anna\u00a0Stoja, Maternal Grandmother Helen Miles, Paternal Grandmother Margaret Budney and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.\u00a0\u00a0He also leaves behind a void in his NYPD Community. Nicholas will forever be missed.<\/p>\n
