Sameer A M Rateb, 22

Army Sergeant Sameer A M Rateb, born January of 1985, in Summerville, South Carolina, beloved son of Mohamed Rateb and Erzsebet Howell; beloved husband of Tiffany Rateb.

After graduating High School he joined the US Army in 2004. Sameer served with the 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade. He deployed two times to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His last deployment in Bayji, Iraq.

His awards include the Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal.

SGT Sameer A M Rateb lost his battle with PTSD, May 6, 2007, at Forward Operating Base Summerall, Bayji, Iraq, while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was 22 years old.
