DAVIE, Fla. (WSVN) — Motorcyclists hit the road for a good cause at the Second Annual Live to Tell Ride, Sunday.

Hundreds participated in the event, which is geared toward raising funds and awareness for post-traumatic stress disorder. The 26-mile trek took riders from Western High School in Davie to C.B. Smith Park in Pembroke Pines.

The ride was inspired by the mother of an Iraq War veteran who died while struggling with PTSD. “We lose over 8,000 veterans a year to suicide. They make it home from war, and then they take their own lives, most of them here on U.S. soil,” said organizer Janine Lutz. “I believe that we can prevent this, so we’re here today to raise awareness.”

Funds raised from Sunday’s ride will go toward Buddy Up Combat Outpost, a program aimed at bringing veterans together to share their stories.
