Chicago Police Detective Eric Concialdi served his department for 16 years.
Chicago, IL – Chicago Police Department (CPD) Detective Eric Concialdi died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home on Sunday.
A fellow officer discovered the 44-year-old, off-duty detective’s body at his residence on West Monroe Street just before 1:30 p.m., the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
An autopsy took place on Monday, and the medical examiner ruled that Det. Concialdi died by suicide, according to WLS.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the news that a CPD detective took his own life yesterday after going through personal hardships,” CPD spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi tweeted on Monday.
“Our deepest condolences & prayers go out to his family, friends & CPD officers & detectives,” he said.
Det. Concialdi served CPD for 16 years, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
