Larry K ‘Jay’ Shalters III, 23

Marine Lance Corporal Larry Kenneth “Jay” Shalters, III, was born July 29, 1992 in West Reading, he was the son of Mary N. (Shiner) and Kenneth L. Moyer Jr., Blandon and Carrie (Jones) and Larry K. Shalters Jr., Red Oak, IA.

Jay was employed at East Penn Manufacturing, Co., Inc., Lyon Station, in grid casting and had also worked for Giorgio Foods, Blandon. He was a 2010 graduate of Tulpehocken High School and enjoyed video games, hunting, fishing, shooting and riding dirt bikes.

Jay was honorably serving his country in the United States Marine Corps Reserve as a Lance Corporal.

In addition to his parents, Jay is survived by his sisters, Emily N. Moyer, Blandon and Hannah Shalters, Red Oak, a brother Andrew Shalters, Red Oak, his maternal grandparents, Joan M. (Wagner) and Thomas W. Shiner, Millsboro, DE and Rebecca M. (McKeller) Shiner and Art Bixler, Richland, PA, and by his paternal grandparents Connie and Larry K. Shalters Sr., Bernville.

Jay was preceded in death by his brother Jacob Shalters on October 12, 2013.

Lance Cpl Larry Kenneth “Jay” Shalters III lost his battle with PTS on June 5, 2016. He was 23 years old.
