Nicholas James Budney, 36

Nicholas James Budney of Rock Taven, Formerly of Cold Spring passed away  on January 27, 2018 in Newburgh  He was 36.

Born on January 7, 1982 in Mount Kisco, New York to Doug and Margaret Budney.

Nicholas grew up in Cold Spring and graduated from Haldane in 2000. He went on to SUNY Plattsburgh and John Jay College of Criminal Justice.  On January 10, 2005 he graduated from the New York City Police Academy where he was a proud officer assigned to the 47th Precinct in the Bronx.  He was a member of Special Operations at the 47, named Cop of the Year 4 times at the 47 and currently was assigned to ESU Truck 3 in the Bronx.  He was a member of the North Highland Fire Department and was fireman of the year.  He enjoyed cooking, gardening and woodworking.  He loved being Irish and was loud and proud to be an Irish American.

On April 13, 2013 he married the love of his life Shannon Sheehan at Our Lady of Loretto Church.

Nicholas is survived by his wife  Shannon at home, His Parents Doug and Margaret Budney, Sister Heather Stoja and  her husband Matthew, His brother Christopher Budney, His Godson Lino Stoja, his niece Anna Stoja, Maternal Grandmother Helen Miles, Paternal Grandmother Margaret Budney and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.  He also leaves behind a void in his NYPD Community. Nicholas will forever be missed.

    I am so sorry and moved by this good mans passing too too too too soon.
