Specialist Chad Alexander Fike, born April of 1991, in Honolulu, Hawaii, beloved son Lieutenant Brian Fike and Dawn Schroeder Fike; and his beloved Fiancée, Priscilla Nguyen of Portland.
As a young child he moved to Florida where his father was stationed in the Marine Corps. He graduated from McNary High School in 2009.
After high school, Chad enlisted in the Oregon Army National Guard in September 2009 as an infantryman. SPC Fike deployed as gunner on CET 3 2nd PLT Co D 3-116 CAV in support of Operation New Dawn to Iraq from June 2010 to September 2011. His current military assignment was with Co B 3-116 CAV as an infantryman.
SPC Fike’s awards and decorations include: Army Commendation Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve; Iraq Campaign Medal with one Campaign Star; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Oregon Superior Soldier Award; Components Achievement Medal; Overseas Service Ribbon; Army Service Ribbon; Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Mobilization Device and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
Chad was a student at Clackamas Community College and enjoyed building, playing and selling computer games. He also had a love for fast cars, 60’s music, cats and adventure.
Chad was a selfless, thoughtful young man with a heart of gold. He was humble and kind with a witty sense of humor that simply made those around him laugh. He was the rock that motivated his family and friends to be the best they could be and his quiet nature was truly lovable. Those who were fortunate to earn his friendship also earned his brotherhood. Chad was simple and content with life and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
SPC Chad Alexander Fike lost his battle with PTS, July 8, 2013, in Clackamas, Oregon. He was 22 years old.
