Shared from Blue Lives Matter:

“Chicago, IL – Chicago Police Officer Brandon Krueger died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Sunday, after he shot himself in the head with his duty weapon while parked in his patrol vehicle in the police department’s parking lot.

Officer Krueger, 37, was pronounced dead at the Chicago Police Department’s Area South Fifth District station at 7:26 p.m. on July 8, the Cook County medical examiner’s office told the Chicago Sun-Times.

His death has been ruled a suicide.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and his police family,” department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told the Chicago Tribune on Monday. “We know they’re very affected. The superintendent talked to those folks today. It’s very difficult for us and we’ve made awareness about suicide a priority because we know we’re one of the departments with the highest rates of suicide.”

Officer Krueger, a five-year veteran of the Chicago PD, was assigned to the agency’s Bureau of Organized Crime, which handles the city’s narcotics, vice, and gang investigations, Guglielmi said, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

He was also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

“My beloved son is gone,” Officer Krueger’s mother, Diane Milani, wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday. “My soul is shattered. Please pray he is in peace with our Lord.”

“I love you to eternity,” the grieving mother added. “I’ll miss you every day of my life.”

Officer Krueger leaves behind his wife, Andrea, his children, Aiden, Keira, and Kendall, and his stepchildren, Tyler and Evan, according to his obituary.

He is also survived by his parents, sister, nieces, and nephews.

Officer Krueger will be laid to rest on Friday.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Chicago Police Officer Brandon Krueger, both blood and blue. Thank you for your service.

Rest easy, hero. We’ll hold the line from here.”
