Army Staff Sergeant Damon R Shanafelt, born September 18, 1973, of Derry, New Hampshire, beloved husband of Christine Shanafelt of Derry.
He was born in Medford, Massachusetts and a long time resident of Somerville.
Damon proudly served his country with the United States Army Reserves, attaining a rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a Master Electrician. Damon was a 20 year member of the North Suburban Dart League out of the Melrose Elks.
Beloved son of Darell and the late Theresa (Macone) Shanafelt. Devoted father to his son, Marciano Shanafelt and his daughter, Giuliana Shanafelt, both of Somerville, his step-son, Dane McIntosh and step-daughter, Kailah Carroll, both of Derry, two brothers, Darren Shanafelt of Quincy, MA and Derek Shanafelt of Somerville; his sister-in-law Lisa Carroll of Derry, as well as a niece and nephews, his godchild Anthony Shanafelt, Ava Rose Shanafelt, Dominic Shanafelt, Darren Shanafelt, Jr., and Devin Shanafelt.
SSG Damon R Shanafelt lost his battle with PTS on July 31, 2015. He was 41 years old.
