Marine Corporal David James Griggs returned to the arms of his loving Heavenly Father on October 6, 2015.
David was born on September 26, 1988, in Provo, Utah to James and Susan Griggs. He grew up in Spanish Fork alongside his older siblings Scott, Brian, Rachelle, and Kristy. He was the jokester in his family and always kept those around him entertained with a practical joke or impression.
David graduated from high school in Spanish Fork in 2007. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 2007 and served bravely in Afghanistan alongside his brothers in the 3/1 Weapons Company. David completed his military service in 2011.
He attended Utah Valley University and would have graduated in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science. He formerly worked for Provo City in the Water Resources Department.
David met his sweetheart, Heather Hill, in junior high. They were best friends through junior high and high school. They were married on April 16, 2009. Their life together was filled with many laughs, kisses, and cuddles. They welcomed their long-awaited daughter, Emilia Kate Griggs, on April 12, 2015. David was absolutely smitten with his little girl and loved being a daddy.
He loved the great outdoors and was everyone’s favorite hunting, fishing, and shooting buddy. He enjoyed long-range shooting and reloading bullets with his dad. He was the most fun uncle and he loved to take his nephews and nieces fishing and shooting. David couldn’t wait to buy his little girl her first gun and bow. He was a huge Utes fan and loved going to University of Utah football games.
David’s family takes comfort in knowing that he no longer suffers from the demons that tormented him. We ask that if you are suffering to please reach out let others help you.
David is survived by his loving wife, Heather Griggs and daughter Emilia Kate Griggs of Spanish Fork; parents, James and Susan Griggs of Spanish Fork; brothers Scott Griggs of Springville and Brian (Torilynn) Griggs of Santaquin; sisters Rachelle Throckmorton of Springville and Kristy Griggs of Layton; parents-in-law Jason and Kate Hill of Spanish Fork; nieces and nephews Haylie, Xander, Daniel, and Calli; grandmas Velva Campbell of Spanish Fork and Donna Stevens Griffin of Boise, ID; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
