Jon Michael Naholnik, 32

Army Specialist Jon Michael Naholnik, of Montville, born June of 1981, was lost suddenly on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, due to a “Wounded Heart” after his services in Afghanistan.

Jon proudly served his country through the Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 102nd Infantry Regiment (Mountain) located in Norwalk. But he was not only a courageous soldier and a U.S. hero to our country, he was a loving son, brother, father, uncle and amazing friend to anyone who crossed his path over his 32 years he spent with us on this earth. He captivated us with his contagious smile and pierced our souls with his amazing blue eyes.

Jon attended Waterford High School, after high school he was employed at Millstone Nuclear Power Plant as an armed guard. Following this, he decided his calling was to follow in the footsteps of the men he looked up to…his father Nik and his grandfather Charlie, and joined the Army National Guard (2007-2013).

Family was the most important thing in Jon’s life. He is predeceased by Melissa Dawn Naholnik, his sister; Christopher Michael Brandon, his cousin; Charlie and Violette Naholnik, paternal grandparents; and George and Carrol Brandon, maternal grandparents.

Because of the huge heart and loving soul that Jon had, he touched so many lives and considered his friends to be as important as family, and with this he has left behind so many friends who loved him dearly, from childhood friends to his Army brothers.

SPC Jon Michael Naholnik lost his battle with PTSD, September 25, 2013. He was 32 years old.
