US Marine Corporal Joseph Scott Gellings, born April of 1985, in Topeka, Kansas. Beloved son of Robert Joseph Gellings and Kimberly Beasley Barnett; beloved brother of Cody Gellings; beloved father of Hayden Joseph.
Joseph was a 2003 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps in August 2004. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, Weapons Company. He served tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan as a mortar man. He served until August 2008, earning the rank of Corporal.
Joseph will be remembered for his amazing personality, his one of a kind sense of humor and a loving, devoted father to his eight-month old son, Hayden.
Cpl Joseph Scott Gellings lost his battle with PTS, November 2, 2014, at his home in Lawrence, Kansas. He was 29 years old.
I served with Gellings in 2/7. My heart hurts knowing he is no longer with us. I’ll never forget you my brother.
