Army Staff Sergeant Peter Yost Turner II, born June of 1968, in Chicago, Illinois, beloved son of Carol Carni of Fairmont and Peter Yost Turner of Morgantown; beloved husband of Judy Cain Turner of Fairmont.
He grew up in West Virginia and was a 1986 graduate of East Fairmont High where he was a member of the football, baseball, and wrestling teams. Peter joined the Army after graduation and served as a computer programmer at Ft. Lee, Virginia. He also worked for the Federal Aviation Administration in Virginia and for the Department of the Navy in Louisiana.
Peter worked for EDS, a software development company in Warren Ohio. Upon his return to West Virginia, he worked for TMC Technologies. He was currently employed with NIOSH, as a software developer for the CDC.
Peter joined the West Virginia National Guard in 1993 and served with the 152nd MP Detachment in Moundsville, West Virginia. He deployed to Bosnia -Herzegovina as a section sergeant with the 152nd MP Detachment.
Peter was deeply involved in service to his community. He was a member of Acacia Lodge 157 AF & AM; Scottish Rite 32nd degree KCCH; Orient Chapter 9 RAM; Osiris Shrine of Wheeling, WV; Legion of Honor, Osiris Shrine of Wheeling, WV; Fort Henry York Rite College #61; WV Council #7 Knight Masons; WV College Masonic Rosicrucians; Fairmont Chapter # 34 Order of the Eastern Star; Royal Order of Scotland as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of Valley Chapel United Methodist Church.
Peter was an avid trout fisherman and hunter and loved the outdoors. He loved jeeping and was a founding member of the WV Jeep Club.
SSG Peter Yost Turner II lost his battle with PTS, July 7, 2012. He was 44 years old.
