Army Sergeant First Class Robert Tipton, was born in Kingsport TN. and graduated from Sullivan North High School. He enlisted when he was 18 years old. He was a veteran of both Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom ultimately serving 22 years in the United States Army.

He had just completed E8 school and was looking forward to furthering his career in the Army.

He decided on July 22, 2015 he was going to lay down his demons completely. He had battled a long time with PTSD and fought hard for healing and health.

He was a wonderful husband, father, son and step father. Not to mention on great NCO. He will be dearly missed by his family and his soldiers.

Loved ones left to cherish his memory his wife, Teresa Tipton; his mother, Helen Tipton; his daughters, Brittany and Becky Tipton; his father, Bob McCarty; his sisters, Ocie McCarty and Kimberly Tipton; and his brother, Buddy McCarty.

SFC Robert Tipton lost his battle with PTS, July 22, 2015. He was 45 years old.
