US Marine Sergeant Scott Alan Pickerel, born August of 1984, in Belleville, Illinois, beloved son of Gregory Pickerel and Mary Foster Pickerel; beloved brother of Bradley Pickerel.
Scott was a graduate of St. Henry’s Catholic Grade School and Belleville West High School.
Scott proudly served four years with the United States Marine Corps defending our freedom during the Iraq War, earning the rank of sergeant.
His awards and medals include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, a Certificate of Commendation, and an Expert 2nd Rifle Qualification Badge.
Surviving are his father, Gregory Pickerel (Jan Robinson) of Belleville, IL; his mother, Mary Foster Pickerel (Robert Butz Jr.) of Belleville, IL; his brother, Bradley Pickerel (fiancee, Lauren Walther) of Collinsville, IL; his maternal grandmother, Florence “Flo” Foster of Belleville, IL; aunts and uncles, Paul (Laura) Pickerel of Swansea, IL, Christie (Wayne) Scher of Belleville, IL, Janis (Buddy) Webb of Johns Island, SC, Gale (George) Hoff of Belleville, IL, Keith (Laura) Pickerel of Swansea, IL, Lori (Lee) Boswell of Belleville, IL, Peggy (Jim) Schifferdecker of Millstadt, IL, and John Foster (Jason Delaney) of Belleville, IL; and many loving cousins and friends.
