Army Specialist Alan Joseph Younger, of Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Marlow, was born June 2, 1987, at Fort Sill to Jim and Kim (Adams) Younger.
Alan graduated from Marlow High School in 2005 and later joined the United States Army, serving in Germany and a tour in Iraq. He had lived in Kansas for the past two years. On Aug. 14, 2009, Alan married the former Amber Voigt in Idaho.
Alan was interested in engineering and was recently accepted to the School of Engineering at the University of Kansas. His greatest joy was in spending time with his daughter, Mariska.
Alan was preceded in death by his grandfathers, James Younger and Daniel Giers.
Survivors include his wife, Amber Younger, of the home; a daughter, Mariska Younger, of the home; his parents, Jim and Kim Younger of Marlow; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dean and Stephanie Raab of Bray, and James and Erin Munnerlyn of Abilene, Texas; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Krissie and Derek Hunt of Mustang, Tammera and Billy Holley of Marlow, and Nicole West of Wichita Falls, Texas; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
SPC Alan Joseph Younger lost his battle with PTS on August 12, 2013. He was 26 years old.
