Officer Douglas T Akers

Douglas T. Akers, age 54, of Van Buren, died Monday, December 31, 2018.

He was born on March 9, 1964 in Washington D.C. to Audrey A. and Linda Lee (Amick) Akers. His mother survives in Summerlee, West Virginia.

On October 6, 1984, he married Vaune Plas and she survives. Also surviving are his sons: Adam (Mercedes) Akers of Carrol, Ohio and Tyler (Erika) Akers of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren: Halle Grace, Emersyn, Cohen, Roman and Ellie; siblings: Audrey (Louisa) Akers Jr. of Troy, North Carolina, Jonathon (Brigitte) Akers of LaGrange, Ohio, and Karen (Darryl) Peters of Elyria, Ohio.

Doug has served as a Findlay Police Officer since 1991 and was a member of the Fort Findlay F.O.P. Lodge #20. He had a deep affinity for the outdoors, being an avid hunter, and he enjoyed hiking and many other outdoor activities. He knew Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and made himself available to help anyone at any time. His greatest love was his love and devotion to his family as well as his service to his community.
Officer Douglas T Akers lost his battle on December 31, 2018. He was 54 years old.
