Jason Thomas Wilcox, 32

Army Staff Sergeant Jason Thomas Wilcox of Fountain, Colorado, a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, hero and friend.

Jason is survived by his parents, Ronnie and Janeen of Palo; daughter, Mia Grace Bequette of Park City, MO; two sisters, Megan (Ryan) Hagenow of Cedar Rapids and Lindsey (Christopher) Peck of Kellogg; four nephews, Sawyer, Skyler, Sylas and Cooper; grandma, Phyllis Wilcox of Cedar Rapids; girlfriend, Megan Holligan of Denver, CO; two dogs, Mac and Reese; many aunts, uncles, cousins and his military family and colleagues in Colorado.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Albert R. and Helen E. Smith, grandfather Charles E. Wilcox, and uncle Tom Smith.

Jason was born on October 8, 1984 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Ronnie and Janeen Smith Wilcox. He graduated from Solon High School in 2003. When joining the Army in 2005, he completed basic training at Fort Benning. Jason then earned his Infantry Blue Cord and then went on to Airborne School achieving his parachute badge. Jason was stationed at Fort Drum, serving in the 2/87 Inf. 10th mountain division, where he was then deployed to Afghanistan in 2006 for a 16 month tour. After his return to the United States, he was stationed in Fort Carson. At Fort Carson he belonged to the 4 ID 1/67 Inf., before coming to the Warrior Transition Battalion to be a squad leader.

He graduated from University at Albany with a bachelor’s degree in business. Jason was working as a Recovery Care Coordinator for the United States Army.

Jason was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan. He enjoyed boating, skiing, hiking, golfing, being outdoors and spending time with his dogs Mac and Reese. He was a loving and caring son and brother.  Jason cared about his soldiers and had a deep love for the United States Army.

SSG Jason Thomas Wilcox lost his battle with PTS on October 8, 2016. He was 32 years old.
