Matthew Thomas Winkler, 27

Marine Corporal Matthew Thomas Winkler, of Covington, Kentucky, beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, hero and friend.

Serving two tours in Afghanistan in support of the Global War on Terror, Matthew was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of St John Church and the Latonia American Legion Post. He was currently a delivery driver for Strong’s Pizza in Newport.

Those left to cherish his memory, his mother, Debbie Mueller Winkler of Covington; father, Steven (Karyn) Winkler of Fairfield, Ohio; sister, Nicole Winkler of Covington; niece, Juliet Winkler; grandparents, Joe and Faye Mueller of Covington and Mary Jo Winkler of Covington; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins; and his trusted buddy and companion, his Great Dane, Madison.

Matthew was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alfred Winkler.

Cpl Matthew Thomas Winkler lost his battle with PTS on September 16, 2016. He was 27 years old.
