Army Staff Sergeant Michael “Mikey” Anthony George, US Army Ranger Instructor, 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment “Rangers”

“Michael loved to draw and create cartoons and was also an extreme athlete who lived on the edge and loved extreme sports. Michael excelled in everything he put his mind to and was always the laugh of the party. Michael is the youngest of five children and is survived by his parents, Patrick and Patricia George, oldest sister, Maria Staman, Stephanie Ward, Patrick George, and Elizabeth Jones.

Michael served in both Iraq and Afghanistan where he earned a Purple Heart during his service as a US Army Ranger. Michael was loved by everyone he came in contact with and will forever be missed. We will love our “Mikey” forever and will be reunited with you one day!” shared by his sister, Stephanie

SSG George faithfully served his Country in the U.S. Army and among other locations, served tours-of-duty in Afghanistan & Iraq.

Upon completion of his military service, SSG George received an Honorable Discharge and awarded the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, w/ Campaign Star, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal (4th award), Army Achievement Medal (3rd award), Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal w/ Campaign Star, Combat Infantry Bade, Ranger Tab, Air Assault Badge and Jump Wings.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Michael resided in Florida. His final resting place is Sarasota National Cemetery.

SSG Michael Anthony George lost his battle with PTS on September 6, 2016. He was 36 years old.
