Nicholas Stephen Arace, 26

Army Private First Class Nicholas Stephen Arace, born February of 1987, in Phillipsburg, beloved son of Gene R Arace (deceased) and Laura Sterling Owens Arace; beloved brother of David, Joseph, Timothy and Joshua; and the love of his life, Angela Kardes.

Nicholas grew up most of his life in Union Township. He attended Union Township Grammar School and North Hunterdon High School, graduating in 2005. After graduating, he worked for the Town of Clinton. He left that job to join the US Army.

Nicholas went to basic training at Fort Benning, Ga., and was then stationed in Fort Drum, N.Y., 10th Mountain Division Bravo Company, 4-31 INF 1st Platoon 3rd Squad Alpha Team. Trained at Fort Drum and deployed to Iraq with his company. He was released from duty Oct. 26, 2010 and struggled with PTS.

Nick was an avid hunter, fisherman and hiker. He loved the outdoors. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, NY Yankees, and NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. He was very proud to have served for the United States of America.

He was a member of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church where he belonged to the youth group. While with the youth group, he went to The Dominican Republic to serve the church. He was an Eagle Scout with Troop 119, in Union Township.

PFC Nicholas Stephen Arace lost his battle with PTS, December 1, 2013. He was 26 years old.
