US Marine Corporal Nicholas Anthony Gomez, born October of 1989, in Kansas City, Kansas. Beloved son of Nicholas David Gomez and Karin Denise Shellenberger Gomez; beloved brother of Joseph, Gabriel, Phillip, Joshua, Santiago, Victoria and Yocelyn; his beloved grandparents with whom he made his home, O.D. (Papa) Welch and Carol (Meme) Welch.
Nicholas was a graduate of Blue Valley North West High School. He attended the University of Kansas. He spent his summers volunteering his time for Faith Builders, an organization that would build houses for those in need. He loved to hunt, play video games and swing dance. He attended the Presbyterian Church.
Cpl Nicholas Gomez served in the United States Marine Corps and deployed to the Middle East in support of the Global War on Terrorism. He earned the rank of corporal.
Nicholas is also survived by his Maternal grandparents, Kent Shellenberger and Marsha Melnick; Paternal great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David A Vega Sr. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Monica Torrez-Gomez.
Rest in peace beloved son, grandson, brother and friend.
Cpl Nicholas Anthony Gomez lost his battle with PTS, February 16, 2014, in Overland Park, Kansas. He was 24 years old.
